Sumatra FAQ Q: I experienced an error/hangup/malfunction using the plugins. A: Please read the F.A.Q. and the Known Bugs list. If your error is not listed there, use this report error link. Q: Can I use the plugins on other objects than just plants? A: Yes. Q: While the plugin is working, I get an error message:"There are already the maximum number of objects in the scene". A: This is an error message by Layout itself. To prevent this, you should do the following (best before you run the plugin for the first time) to increase the maximum number of scene objects:
1. press "d", go to the "Default" tab and adjust
"Maximum Objects". Q: I tried using Sumatra Modeller or Sumatra Paint while having Layout running. When I do so, Sumatra Modeller or Paint clones into the wrong object files. A:
To use Sumatra Modeller or Paint while Layout is open, you should
try the following: Q: Sumatra Paint: When I select less than 200 polygons to paint on, the Painter clones plants exactly on the selected polys. When I select more, less plants than polygons are created. Why is that? A: The Painter is for creating single plants. However, If you select more than 200 polys, the Painter uses the same routine to create objects as Sumatra Modeller, which depends on object offset and a random factor. Q: I tried creating many objects using a high offset value on a small area, but it didn´t work out. A: Please consider the following mathematic example: in an area 10x10 meters you can theoretically create a maximum of 9 objects with 5 meter offset, if you place the objects on the corners, edge middle and the middle itself. As the Sumatra Plugins create objects on random positions, this maximum hardly can be reached. Try decreasing your offset value.
