Sumatra V1.4 Color Variations

This Tutorial has been written to explain the Color Variations function of the Sumatra Plugins V1.4 for Lightwave Modeler.

At first, we need to load or create a terrain object. Open modeler, select the box tool and press N. Now, enter the following values:

Width:20 meters

Height: 0 meters

Depth:20 meters

Segments x:1

Segments y:1

Segments z:1

Close the numeric window and press space. Then, start Sumatra.

In the objects Tab, select the model you want to clone (I used "fels.lwo" from the sumatra objects folder). Enter the number of clones into the "clones" field. This first time, 50 clones should be enough. Make sure, that the "Layer active" control is active on your layer. If "Layer active" is deactivated, no objects will be created on this layer. After this, go into the "Rotation, Size&Offset" tab, and enter the following values:

max rot H: 360

max rot P: 3

max rot B: 0

Size min: 200%

Size max: 400%

offset: 1meter

Now, go into the "Altitude,Weight&Color" tab, activate "Color Variations", and set color 1 and color 2.

Then, press OK.

After cloning is finished, go into the surface editor, select the surface(s) of your cloned object and choose "sumatracolorVMAP" in the "Vertex Color Map" control.

You screen should now look similar to this. Sumatra has now cloned 50 Rocks with random rotation, scale and offset, and applied a vertex color map with a random color between color 1 and color 2 to every rock.
