Sumatra V1.4 Objectvariations

This Tutorial has been written to explain how to use Objectvariations in Sumatra.

Open Layout, and load a terrain model. I used "terranormal.lwo" from the sumatra objects folder. Make sure that your terrainmodel is selected, and start sumatra.

Choose the object "Palmtree_low.lwo" from the sumatra objects folder and enter the number of clones. Also, activate the "Use Objectvariations" control. Now, go into the "rotation&scale" tab and enter the following values.

min/max rot H: 180

min/max rot P: 6

min/max rot B: 6

min size: 250%

max size: 500%

After this, go into the "Altitude,Offset&Weight" tab and enter an offset of 5meters. Then, press OK.

Sumatra has now cloned 50 Objects onto your terrain. Open the sceneeditor and take a look at the objects you have just cloned. As you can see, sumatra has not 50 times cloned the same object. Instead, the plugin has automatically loaded all "Objectvariations" available in the folder of the base object.

In other words: If you have activated "Use Objectvariations", the plugin scans the folder of the selected object for Objectvariations to use them. This Objectvariations must have the same name as the choosen model + "_v1", "_v2","_v3"...

So, If your object has the name "Stone.lwo", your objectvariations have to be named : "Stone_v1.lwo", "Stone_v2.lwo" and so on.
